About Us

The Arts Society Flitwick and Ampthill is a relatively new society, bringing together people from Flitwick and the surrounding communities who share an interest in art, history and culture. The Society is led by Ian Burgess, Chairman, alongside his wife, Kathryn Burgess, Treasurer, who are committed to creating a friendly and welcoming environment.
Our illustrated lectures feature specialist speakers exploring the people, places and ideas that have shaped art and culture. Each talk offers an opportunity to learn something new in an enjoyable and accessible way. Our meetings bring together people with a shared enthusiasm for the arts, whether lifelong enthusiasts or those simply curious to discover more. Our varied programme has explored John Singer Sargent, the Harlem Renaissance and the Ashcan painters, alongside subjects such as David Hockney and the depiction of alcohol in art.
No specialist knowledge is needed. Our speakers bring their subjects to life through engaging presentations, combining images, stories and fascinating insights.
